Take on the role of an investigator with Witness Interview. This dynamic corporate team building activity in Sydney blends communication skills, quick thinking, and teamwork. In this workshop, groups will interview a civilian witness using the evidence they’ve already gathered, guiding their questioning to uncover vital details that could solve the case.
It’s not just about asking questions. It’s about asking the right questions. Teams will practise open and closed questioning techniques, manage conversations under pressure, and use both verbal and non-verbal cues to build rapport and gather accurate information. With other groups pursuing their own lines of inquiry, you’ll also learn how to adapt, stay focused, and navigate competing interests as part of effective team building.

Workshop #4: Suspect Interview
The Suspect Interview workshop is an immersive corporate team building activity in Sydney that raises the stakes and puts your investigative skills to the test. Just like in the Witness Interview workshop, your group will begin by questioning an individual to gather valuable information. But when that person becomes a suspect, the dynamics change instantly. They must be cautioned, arrested, and may choose to exercise their right to silence.
Your team will need to adapt quickly, managing the conversation while dealing with the added pressure of legal and ethical boundaries. This team building workshop calls for clear thinking, strong communication, and the ability to adjust strategies on the fly.
Key Outcomes for Your Team

Workshop #5: Empathy & Responsibility
Go beyond traditional profiling with Empathy & Responsibility. This corporate team building activity in Sydney focuses on self-awareness, connection, and understanding others under pressure. While a profile might give you an outline of a person, true insight comes from recognising your own thinking patterns, and using that knowledge to respond effectively in tense or challenging situations.
Through interactive scenarios and reflective exercises, your team will explore how empathy and accountability can influence decisions, communication, and collaboration. This team building workshop builds professional skills while simultaneously strengthening workplace culture by fostering respect and trust.
Key Outcomes for Your Team
- Strengths – Identify and apply your individual and collective capabilities for better outcomes.
- Resilience – Develop the ability to remain calm, constructive, and solution-focused in difficult moments.
- Profiling – Gain deeper insight into behaviours and motivations, improving understanding and response strategies.
The Empathy & Responsibility experience gives Sydney teams the tools to communicate with greater awareness, work more cohesively, and build stronger relationships. As one of our most impactful team building activities, it’s designed to engage your whole team and create lasting positive change in how you work together.
Workshop #6: Domestic Violence
“Delete the fright” with Domestic Violence, a thoughtful and impactful corporate team building activity in Sydney that addresses one of the most complex areas of criminal investigation. This workshop explores the domestic violence charter of victim rights, highlighting the multi-faceted nature of these cases and the importance of understanding the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved.
Participants will learn that no single individual carries the entire burden in such situations. Instead, the focus is on working within defined responsibilities while maintaining compassion, professionalism, and clarity. Through guided team building activities, your team will gain practical skills in resilience, psychosocial awareness, and accurate factual reporting.
Key Outcomes for Your Team
- Resilience – Build emotional strength and adaptability when dealing with sensitive or confronting situations.
- Code of Practice (Psychosocial) – Understand and apply best practices for supporting individuals while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Factual reporting – Learn to record and present information clearly, accurately, and without bias.
The
Domestic Violence team building workshop equips Sydney teams with skills that extend beyond the workplace, promoting empathy, accuracy, and composure when it matters most.
Workshop #7: Brief of Evidence
In the world of investigation, clarity and objectivity are everything. Brief of Evidence focuses on stripping away hearsay, opinion, and inferences, leaving only objective, verifiable facts. This corporate team building activity in Sydney gives participants the skills to identify and present evidence accurately, strengthening both professional credibility and communication.
Through practical team building exercises, your team will learn how to separate observations from assumptions, recognise the difference between evidence and information, and prepare concise reports that stand up under scrutiny.
Key Outcomes for Your Team
- Reduce emotion and time at court, with solicitors, clients, and tribunals – Develop the ability to present facts clearly and avoid unnecessary disputes.
- Report observations rather than inferences – Improve accuracy and credibility in all forms of communication.
- Know evidence from information – Strengthen decision-making and reporting by working with only what can be proven.

Sydney Team Building Activities FAQs
Do you come to us to conduct the team building event?
Yes! We travel and bring our team building workshops directly to your workplace, event, or conference venue in Sydney. We’re proud to deliver our experiences to businesses across the city, from small teams to large corporate events. Our reach also covers a wide range of locations, including the Blue Mountains, Western Sydney, and the Hunter Valley, as well as other destinations near Sydney, so your team can enjoy the experience without travelling far.
What are transferable skills?
Transferable skills are abilities you develop in one situation that can be applied effectively in others, such as problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking learned during our team building activities and investigative workshops. At Crime Story, these skills are strengthened through hands-on activities like analysing evidence, conducting interviews, and working collaboratively to solve complex crime scenarios.
What is experiential learning?
Experiential learning is the process of learning through direct experience. By engaging participants in hands-on team building activities and encouraging reflection, it helps connect theories and knowledge to real-world situations, building team spirit and making learning more meaningful and lasting.
How much space do I need for the team building activities?
A space equivalent to half a basketball court or gym, or a double classroom with at least 80% of the partition open. Tables and chairs should be arranged for groups of four to encourage team building and healthy competition.
What's the maximum number of people?
Our standard team building workshops accommodate up to 40 adults. This allows every participant equal access to exhibits and the freedom to work at their own pace without feeling intimidated. For major events, busy periods, and conference venue bookings, we can cater for up to 120 participants.
Is there a minimum?
No. However, the investment remains the same, so we encourage you to think beyond your immediate department and invite other teams to join in for our team building activities.
What is the ideal group size for the ultimate team building experience?
40 participants is ideal, but for larger team building events we can run multiple crime scenes and provide additional staff, accommodating up to 120 participants per session.
Do you charge per participant?
We offer a range of workshop investment options. If you have a smaller group, we’re happy to explore creative solutions, perhaps by inviting another department or combining groups for team building activities and team challenges that spark friendly competition, encourage teams working together, and maximise value.
When do you arrive?
Where possible, we set up the day before your team building event. Setting the crime scene typically takes around 1.5 hours.
What is ‘conversation management’?
Conversation management is more than just effective communication. Developed by Dr Eric Shepherd for law enforcement, it’s a structured approach that can be applied to any investigative interviewing context, including team building scenarios, helping guide discussions toward productive outcomes.
